2006 MassACDA Summer Conference

Anthony Leach |
|
 |
|
Anthony Leach, associate professor of
music and music education at Penn State, teaches courses in choral music
education and choral conducting for undergraduate and graduate students. He
conducts Essence of Joy, the University Choir and Essence 2. His choirs have
performed at state, regional and national conventions sponsored by MENC and
ACDA. Additionally he serves as minister of music and organist at New Bethel
Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. Dr. Leach has served as national chair for
the ACDA Repertoire and Standards Committee on Ethnic and Multicultural
Perspectives and currently is chair for the ACDA Eastern Division Ethnic and
Multicultural Perspectives Committee. Recently he has lectured in Sweden,
Venezuela and the Philippines and served as guest conductor for the World
Youth Choir sponsored by the International Federation of Choral Musicians. |

Robert Russell |
|
Robert Russell is
professor of music at the University of Southern Maine, where he conducts
the University Chorale and Chamber Singers and teaches choral conducting and
music history. He earned the D.M.A. degree in the literature and performance
of choral music from the University of Colorado, studying choral music with
Lynn Whitten and vocal pedagogy with Barbara Doscher. Other teachers have
included Robert Shaw, Alice Parker, Helmuth Rilling and Elmer Iseler. Dr.
Russell was appointed music director of The Choral Art Society in 1979. He
conducts the Choral Art Singers in a concert series each year and prepares
the Choral Art Masterworks Chorus for annual performances with the Portland
Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his campus and regional performances, Dr.
Russell has led numerous choral workshops and clinics and has been a guest
conductor of festivals throughout New England, New York and at the
University of Leicester, England. He has conducted Maine, Massachusetts and
Vermont All-State Choruses and the All-New England Chorus. He has twice
served Maine ACDA as president, and in 1993 received its Distinguished
Choral Director Award. Dr. Russell is currently the ACDA Eastern Division
chair for Youth and Student Activities. |

Graduate Credit
Gordon College offers Mass ACDA Summer
Conference participants one graduate credit from its Master of Music Education
program. Registration deadline for credit is July 17 by 9 a.m.; a late fee of
$25 will be added to all registrations for credit received after July 1. In
order to receive credit, participants must attend 15 hours of sessions and
submit a summary paper after the conference.
Housing
Rooms are
air-conditioned and apartment-style with shared kitchen, bathroom and living
room. Linens provided. Requests for on-campus housing must be received by July
1.
