Part-Time Pianist/Organist - Cohasset, MA. First Parish
Cohasset (23 North Main St., Cohasset, MA 02025) is seeking a Part-Time (10
hrs/wk) Pianist/Organist to accompany choir rehearsals on Thursday evenings and
play Sunday mornings. Thursday rehearsals are 8-9:30 pm; Sunday morning
rehearsals are at 9 am, with the service at 10 am. Occasional extra services are
also required, such as Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday. Should have excellent
skills on both piano and organ, and have a solid classical background; should
also be open to world music and gospel. Solid rhythmic skills required. Should
be able to take direction from and work closely with the music director.

First Parish is a warm and welcoming congregation of about 150 members. The

The pay is $8,000 per year. The organist may take off 8 Sundays per year (at
times mutually agreed upon in advance.) Many opportunities for playing weddings
and funerals for an additional stipend. Those without cars are encouraged to
apply; the music director commutes from Boston, drives right by all the major
subway lines, and is happy to carpool.

Children's Chorale Director - Winchester, MA. The Winchester Unitarian
Society, a liberal religious community located in suburban Boston, has an
opening for a Children's Chorale Director beginning September 1, 2010. We are a

THE METROPOLITAN OPERA GUILD Seeks Part-time Choral Artists to Work in the
Boston Area Schools.
The Metropolitan Opera Guild (The Guild) is recruiting choral/vocal music
educators to work in the Boston and greater Boston-area public schools for the
2010-2011 school year. The Urban Voices: a Choral Music Initiative program
provides affordable high-quality vocal/ choral music education to over 5,000
students grades K to 12 each year. The program started in 1993 with the support
of the Vivendi Universal Fund, and provided music programs to elementary schools
throughout the New York City and Boston Public School systems. Each school
chosen to participate in the program receives the services of a professional
Choral Artist for one full day or the equivalent of five 45 min. classes per
week for 30 weeks. Choral Artists lead students in choral/vocal music
instruction in collaboration with classroom and general music teachers. The
program culminates with an end of the year performance. As part of the program,
The Guild provides professional development opportunities to Urban Voices choral
artists and school-based music and classroom teachers.

Part-time Church Organist - Somerville, MA. First
Church Somerville, United Church of Christ is seeking a part-time organist (7-10
hours per week) to start September 1 (earlier is possible). We are a vibrant,
growing urban church, and we value diversity in our congregation and in our
music. We are conveniently located in Davis Square Somerville, 4 blocks from the
Red Line subway. We are seeking a musician experienced in and comfortable with a
wide variety of musical styles, able to accompany congregational and choral
singing, able to work with musicians of varying skill levels, and able to take
direction from and work closely with the music director. The organist will also
meet regularly with the pastor and music director to plan and co-ordinate the
musical and liturgical life of the congregation and attend monthly meetings of
the Music Committee. This is a part-time salaried position; salary commensurate
with qualifications and experience, based on AGO guidelines.

two-manual Rodgers electronic organ and piano for Sunday morning worship
service.

Provide leadership of congregational hymn singing on organ (or piano as song
style dictates). |

Select and perform preludes, offertories and postludes that include both
traditional and contemporary organ and piano works. |

Accompany choir and soloists/small ensembles on piano, as well as organ, for
anthem, introit or benediction, and responses. |

Play
for Sunday morning choir rehearsals usually beginning at 9:00 AM. |

Play
for weekday evening choir rehearsals. There are additional rehearsals before
Christmas and Easter. |

Play
for occasional special music rehearsals (solos, duets, instrumentalists,
etc.). Rehearsals for special music are flexible, based on availability, but
every effort is made for these rehearsals to be before or after choir
rehearsals or after worship service on Sundays. |

Practice music prior to and consistently be prepared for rehearsals and
services. |

Inform
church office of titles and composers of prelude and postlude each week, to be
printed in the Sunday order of worship. |

Occasionally will be asked to be available to play for special services and

Chorus Director - Deerfield, MA. The
Pioneer Valley Symphony Chorus seeks a
Chorus Director to begin in September 2010. Weekly rehearsals September-May in
Deerfield, Massachusetts from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Traditionally held on Tuesday
evenings but alternatives could be considered if necessary. Additional
rehearsals Wednesday and Friday evenings of concert weeks. Major works proposed
for 2010-11 are Poulenc Gloria and Lauridsen O Magnum Mysterium
for December 11, 2010 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The repertoire for a choral
concert in April 2010 will be determined in collaboration with the appointee.
Qualifications: Outstanding choral conducting and leadership skills; broad
knowledge of choral repertoire; excellent command of Latin, Italian, French,
German and English diction; proven recruiting ability; and strong interpersonal
skills with the PVS Chorus members, officers and accompanist, as well as with
the PVS orchestra members, musical and administrative staff, and board of
directors.

The Pioneer Valley Symphony (www.pvso.org),
which celebrates its 71st anniversary in 2010, is one of the leading musical
institutions in western Massachusetts. Led by Music Director & Conductor Paul
Phillips since 1994, the Pioneer Valley Symphony & Chorus have earned national
attention for their adventurous programming and high performance standards. The
PVS Chorus, found in 1961, generally performs 2 programs with orchestra plus one
choral concert with orchestral ensembles. Membership is by audition. Currently
the PVS Chorus has approximately 60 members.

CHORAL DIRECTOR - Hanover, MA
- The Hanover-based Harbour Choral Arts Society, an SATB, non-auditioned,
regional chorus, is seeking a director to begin Fall 2010. Our last director is
leaving on a Fulbright Scholarship to work toward his doctorate. The group
rehearses on Monday nights, with one Saturday musical "retreat" per season in
preparation for its Winter and Spring concerts. We perform a variety of musical
styles from Mozart to contemporary, classical to gospel, and in a variety of
languages. Salary is $1,400 per season.

Directing the Nova Choir: One of the main
responsibilities of the Assistant Music Director is that of being the Director
of the Nova Choir, an un-auditioned group of about 12-15 singers, choosing
music, rehearsing Thursday nights (6:45-8:00pm); and directing their singing
twice a month at the 9:00am Sunday services. Must be able to play the piano and
rehearse parts individually and in ensemble. (Note: On Sundays, the Nova Choir
is often accompanied by the Minister of Music/Organist).

Children's/Youth and Adult Choirs, as needed, for services and rehearsals,
providing help with various tasks relating to the Choral Music Program, such as

Director for the Children's / Youth musical in the Fall each year. This is a
signature church community event and involves working with children aged 5-16 in
a fully staged, choreographed, and costumed production. For the eight-week

performance coaching, sectional rehearsals of both music and dialog, as well as
