MassACDA Summer Conference 2002 Clinicians INTEREST SESSION LEADER
Dr.
Donald Bailey, music director and conductor of the Schola Cantorum of
Texas, is the director of choral activities at Baylor University. At
Baylor he conducts the a capella choir and the chamber singers, and
teaches choral conducting. His
choirs have appeared with the Rochester (NY) Philharmonic Orchestra, the
Buffalo (NY) Philharmonic Orchestra, the Phoenix (AZ) Symphony orchestra
and the orchestra of Santa Fe (NM). Professor Bailey's choirs have sung
three times for the ACDA National Convention as well as the Texas
Educators Association, the New York State School Music Association, the
Arizona Music Educators Association and the Music Educators National
Conference. Prior
to going to Baylor in 1993, he held similar positions at Arizona State
University, Texas Tech University, Houghton College and Eastern New Mexico
University. He holds a bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) and a Master of
Arts from Eastern New Mexico University, and a Doctor of Arts in
conducting from the University of Northern Colorado. Particularly
active as a guest conductor and clinician, he has conducted over 350
clinics in the last 10 years. He has appeared as guest conductor at both
Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center Last revised March 24, 2009.
